S.R.Claridge writes Mystery and Romantic Suspense novels. Her work has been said to have the energy of Dan Brown, the mystery of Mary Higgins Clark and the humor of Janet Evanovich. Claridge novels will take you to the edge of your seat, keep you guessing until the very end and ultimately warm your heart. It is on the pages of every S.R.Claridge novel that Mystery and Sensual Suspense collide.

TUESDAY TALKS

SPOTLIGHT AUTHOR:    R O L L A N D   L O V E

Before we get started talking about your books, tell us a little about yourself.  Where are you from?
I grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri.

(I knew I liked you!!  I'm from Missouri too... the good 'ol Show Me State!)   :)

What is your occupation outside of writing?
I teach writing, storytelling, journaling and Lewis and Clark workshops for Kids.   I also created a workshop to motivate Senior Adults too write their life story. I have expanded that to include children writing the life stories of their parents and grandparents. The result is increased communications between young and old, something which was lost with the advent of texting and the Internet.  My last class had (120) – 3 grade students, which was an interesting adventure.  There are (40) million seniors over the age of (65) in the United States most of whom have recorded nothing about their history. As Mark Twain once said, “There has never yet been an uninteresting life.”  I want to develop an interactive life story computer program that can be distributed to schools, along with the video of my Lewis and Clark adventure and award winning stories that are enjoyed by all ages. If anyone is interested in discussing such a project please let me know.

That sounds like a wonderful idea!  Anyone interested in being a part of this project, please contact Rolland right away.

You have spoken to and shared your stories with hundreds of folks.... what type of groups do you meet with?
I have made presentations to Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Camp Fire USA, Schools, Libraries, Retirement and Assisted Living Facilities, Churches, Business and Civic Groups … I have had stage and film roles as a villain and a monk, I played John Calvin McCoy, founder of Westport Missouri and in 2004 during the Lewis and Clark bicentennial I was Silas Goodrich, Expert Fisherman.  I play a standardized patient at KU and MU Medical Schools. I was a doctor on Discovery Channels - Mystery Diagnosis and played the role of Major John Neelly in a stage production about the death of Meriwether Lewis.  I also co-founded an educational software company and I have published (3) novels, (50) short stories, a best selling computer book and I co-authored an award-winning cookbook.

WOW!  It sounds like you are too busy to have any down-time... but when you do get to relax, what are your favorite type of books to read?
Mystery

Where is the most unique place you have traveled?
The jungle of Costa Rica. Northern Canada and the Cayman Islands

Aside from your successes in the writing industry, what in your life has given you the greatest sense of accomplishment?
Teaching workshops for Kids and Senior Adults to write their life story.

You mentioned you have published 3 novels, a best-selling computer book and an award winning series of short stories and a cookbook.  Where can we purchase these?

Do you have one particular genre that all your books fall under (i.e. suspense, romance, etc.)  or do you write in many different genres?
I wrote a comedy thriller called Toe Tags and TNT, the majority of my stories are set in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri.

How much character and plot detailing do you plan out before you begin writing a novel, or are you a “pantser” (fly by the seat of your pants) ?
A “pantser.”

Prior to becoming a published author, how many rejections did you receive?  How did you handle the rejections?
I received 50 rejections and consider them as part of the process.

How and when do you write? Do you keep yourself on a schedule or do you work while the muse is with you?
I write when I get the urge to tell as story.

If you have a new release coming out, tell us about it.
I recently published 3 novels and 3 series of short stories as eBooks on Smashwords, Scribd and Amazon Kindle.
Smashwords/APPLE IPad, IPod, IPhone ... http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/RTLOVE
Scribd Short Stories and Novels - http://www.scribd.com/shelf

If you could give one piece of advice to writers trying to get published, what would that advice be?
Write for 30 minutes each day and in 90 days you’ll have a rough draft.

What's up next for you and your writing?
Sell my eBook series, go on the road this summer and sell my novels the Blue Hole, Toe Tags and TNT, Homegrown in the Ozarks and promote the audio version of my award winning Ozark Mountains fishing stories series. I wrote ‘em and I read em, they are enjoyed by all ages even those who don’t fish.

Anything else you'd like to share with my blog readers?
In addition to my publications my writing, storytelling, journaling and Lewis and Clark workshops for all ages receive 5 star reviews.

Where can we read more about you and your work?
Simply key the words “Rolland Love Profile” into Google and most things meaningful will pop up.  http://www.google.com/profiles/sunnybiscuitdog
